Funnect is a conceptual app designed to streamline the chaos of college festivals by offering a centralized platform for participants and organizers alike. The app provides essential features such as personalized event feeds, real-time updates, accommodation booking, and seamless communication channels
The Story
Picture this: You’re in the middle of a bustling college festival. The air is electric, friends are gathering, and the buzz is all about the next big event. But just as you’re about to dive into the fun, reality hits—schedules are clashing, you’re lost on campus, and crucial updates are buried in a flood of irrelevant notifications. This is where Funnect steps in.
The concept for Funnect was born from my own experience as both a participant and organizer, witnessing the chaos firsthand. By talking with fellow students and committee members, I identified the pain points and set out to create a solution that would turn festival confusion into a seamless experience for everyone involved.
Problem Identification: The Festival Frenzy
As both an organizer and a participant, I’ve experienced the highs and lows of college festivals. Through these experiences, I identified five key challenges that participants often face, which I sought to address in Fonnect:
Lost in Translation
Picture this: You’re pumped for a competition, ready to bring your A-game, only to find out you missed the preliminary round. Why? Because that crucial email was buried under 15 “Welcome to the Fest” messages. The excitement turns into frustration faster than you can hit refresh. It’s like being invited to the party but not told where the door is.
The Overlapping Schedules Dilemma
Life isn’t always fair—especially when two amazing events clash at the same time. Do you hit the AI workshop or the dance-off you’ve been perfecting for weeks? It’s like life making you choose between pizza and burgers. Sure, both are great, but without a clear picture, you might end up regretting your choice. With overlapping schedules, you need that extra bit of clarity to make the right call and avoid the dreaded FOMO.
The Sudden Change Scenario
You’ve got your whole day planned: ready for the big event, water bottle in hand, and then schedule change! Now you're running across campus like you're in a marathon you didn’t sign up for, only to miss the event entirely. Without real-time updates, this scenario becomes way too familiar, and participants are left scrambling, hoping to catch up.
The Progress Puzzle
You’ve been grinding it out in a competition for days, but when it comes to knowing how you’re doing—radio silence. Are you winning? Are you out? Is there a prize for participation? The lack of progress updates can turn excitement into confusion, making it hard to stay motivated when you don’t even know where you stand.
